A Serpent Path/Ramayana Dream?

I haven’t been sleeping particularly well lately, but sometimes that means that dreams are more plentiful and/or easier to remember. I had an odd one (or group of ones) earlier today, which may have something to do with a bit of yesterday’s post.

In part of one of the dreams, there was an airshow with some very strange planes and things; I have dreams involving air travel or air displays and such out at NAS Whidbey fairly frequently. (There will be an airshow out there in the near future, possibly, as there often is in the summer, but it won’t have awesome planes that can stop mid-air on a dime and then turn 270 with flames painted on the sides, I don’t think.)

There were various other weird parts of that dream, involving food booths, food being dropped from the sky, ordering catering things and having names mixed up, high-end secondhand shops, and name mix-ups, but that’s not as important, I don’t think…

Then, almost out of nowhere, there was a kind of Ramayana interlude. It seemed that Ravan was planning some dastardly deed or other, and wanted to get Hanuman out of the picture for as long as possible. So, he was going to trick him with this special piece of paper that was, it seemed to me, rather Chinese-looking. If he lured Hanuman to step on it, it would transport Hanuman to the place depicted on the paper, which was a kind of internal cosmological map of a huge dragon, and then Hanuman would have to travel through the entire body of the dragon, in a very strange manner, and it was a semi-endless dragon, so it would have taken him millions of years to get through it. Unfortunately, Hanuman fell for it, and so was transported into that dragon; the interior of the dragon was very strange, because parts of it just felt like the hallways of a school or a hospital, but other parts were done very nicely and tastefully, like a Chinese palace or a Japanese house with the paper walls, etc. He was making much faster than expected progress through the dragon, and so Ravan then started to put other traps in his way, and one of them was a flatter-looking isosceles triangle inside a faint rectangle, and if he stepped on it, the result would be “reincarnation.” Unfortunately, he stepped on it, and immediately he was reincarnated into a female version of himself called Hanumana, and was a little bit confused by it. I had somehow assumed the form of Vibishan, Ravan’s younger brother who helped out Rama, Hanuman, and co., and was trying to walk him through the difficulties of his sudden gender change.

I suspect there’s more than a little bit of the Tetrad at work in this dream, given that there is a major part of the story as it currently stands involving going inside a gigantic snake; the Amduat text also has a multi-chambered dragon that the solar barque has to pass through. I’m also reminded, I have to say, of DragonBall Z and “Snake Way”…Serpent Path, anyone?

Perhaps more later…

  1. That’s a really cool dream actually.
