Just a short one today, as I’m outward bound once again to see various folks (including several Mystai of the Antinoan Mysteries) in Seattle and its suburbs tonight and tomorrow morning.
This interesting National Geographic article on Roman Frontiers, not surprisingly, has quite a bit on Hadrian’s Wall in it. While I’m not 100% happy with the article (given its somewhat poorly contextualized account of the Bar-Kochba Rebellion and Hadrian’s reaction to it), it’s still not bad for a mainstream publication that is read by many people who likely don’t know a thin about this subject. And, be sure and check out these lovely photos that accompany it! I have not seen some of those objects previously, so there’s much upon which to feast the eyes!
I just saw that issue today–because I’m an office assistant in the Serials Unit of my municipal public library.
Actually in these times the Serials Unit consists of my boss and me; she has a library science degree, I don’t.

Cool!
My dad has a subscription; maybe I can get this issue from him. (He gave me the one from a few years ago on Gobekeli Tepe…if I spelled that right…on the earliest religious structures built by humans, and how they pre-date cities, thus making it seem like cities might have evolved as support structures for religious sites rather than religious structures being the result of cities…exciting stuff!)
