I had a wonderful evening last night with the Seattle LGBT Pagan Meet-Up, as well as just being in Seattle generally and enjoying the food and atmosphere. Today was also nice, as I got a little bit more sleep than I may have ordinarily, got to hang out with my dear friend and co-religionist Erynn Rowan Laurie, who recently returned from a pilgrimage in Ireland and tour in Britain and Europe. My travel back, however, was plagued with bad bus nonsense, missed and near-missed buses, and so forth, so I don’t think I can quite manage a post of much substance today. (Hence, instead of a drive-by or run-by post, this is a “collapse-by” post…I’m writing this as I fall slowly into a bed, or at least close enough to it I can pull down a blanket or two!)
But, in the meantime, here’s a few things to enjoy.
Star Foster has a very interesting post on arranged marriages, and whether they’d work in paganism. She does mention Hadrian and Antinous in it as well!
It’s a fascinating thought, and one that I haven’t quite thought myself recently, though I just did have some stray notions over the last few days regarding long-term relationships, the community connections that can sometimes facilitate them, and how difficult it might be in non-pagan-specific space to convey how not-at-all-optional my very devoted polytheist religious life is to consider within any potential long-term relationship.

And, here’s a photo from the meet-up last night. Had it been angled slightly toward the right, you’d have seen the Space Needle in the distance to my left! But, it’s still a good photo, and Erynn is to my left. I didn’t expect to be holding forth like I did briefly last night when someone asked about Polydeukion, but there we are!
More tomorrow, then!
“I didn’t expect to be holding forth like I did briefly last night when someone asked about Polydeukion”
Really? Really? I don’t, quite, believe you.
And it really was a great meetup. Though the weather was beautiful, we probably should have had it at the coffeehouse so we didn’t have to cut it short due to the sun setting. Although, the after-party was pretty kickin’, so I should probably stop complaining. lol

Well, given that my polytheistic interests aren’t that widely popular, and even though a sizable percentage of the meet-up is EA-specific/friendly/initiated Mystai, still, I’d have expected maybe a little side discussion, but not something where everyone was listening (or at least not speaking) for the most part…except, well, you-know-who.
I’d have preferred anything with seats. I wasn’t that bothered by the cold or the dark, but anyway…it’s the last outdoor hurrah for a while, in any case, and not a bad one at that!
See you in the morning!
