Today, I have a little more to write (somewhat urgently) herein, but still a ton to do elsewhere…so, not as much as I may like, but there we are.
First, another photo from last weekend, this one showing something I’ve foolishly overlooked more often than not up on Mt. Erie (and which connects to something I noted a few weeks earlier): in essence, an “eagle shrine”!
Nice, innit?

And in a follow-up to another post from last week, alas, Andrew De Leon did not get further in the America’s Got Talent semifinals this week. While the top two acts in the three that got through were quite worthy, I don’t feel that #3 or #4 were; and, I thought the judges were horrible to Andrew on Tuesday night after his performance (with the exception of Howie, who was even better when the results emerged the next day, saying that he thought Andrew would have been in the top 3). Sharon was particularly awful, because she pretty much said that if he went on in the competition, he should basically change his entire look and visual persona…uhh, can anyone say missing the point?!? This saddens me, of course, for all sorts of reasons.
I wish I were a producer (read: had millions of dollars), because if I was, I’d like to do two things with the various acts from this year and previous years (and some from The Voice as well!) that did not go through to the finals (or that did, but didn’t win):
1) Do a production of Jesus Christ Superstar that is more or less all-queer. Have Prince Poppycock be Jesus, Daniel Joseph Baker be Judas (or, for more fun, reverse those roles!), Andrew De Leon as Mary Magdalene, Jake Wesley Rogers as Peter, Nathan Parrett as Simon, Beverly McLellan as Caiaphas, Vicci Martinez as Annas, Dani Shay as “Zecharias” (the other High Priest, with only three of them total in the show), and All Beef Patty as Herod! And as for Pontius Pilate–well, if I were producing the show, I’d at least want to try out for the role!
2) Have a kind of “modern circus” with some of the other variety performers from this year–imagine if Donovan & Rebecca, the Bandbraz Brothers, Ben Blaque, and Turf (for starters) were in such a thing! That would be awesome!
Well, in any case, a near-penniless person can dream, can’t they?
Next up, a survey for people who are particular types of queer (gay, lesbian, or bisexual) and religious, there’s a survey on LGB religiosity that is being conducted. Unfortunately, the questions in the survey are more geared toward monotheism and some of the things that accompany it, and the whole thing is also very gender-dualist (and, apparently, if one is trans but heterosexual, then that doesn’t really count, exactly…though you might just give it a shot anyway!); but, that having been said, further data points–particularly from queer polytheists–would be very useful.
And finally, something I’ve been looking forward to for a very long time. You may recall, particularly since the previous PantheaCon, I’ve mentioned my Thracian colleague a number of times, especially in relation to, well, Thracian matters! In any case, he’s just started a blog, Anomalous Thracian, which you should check out! Here’s some further info on the Anomalous Thracian himself as well!
That’s all I’ve got for now–hope everyone is well!

3). Sharon was particularly awful, because she pretty much said that if he went on in the competition, he should basically change his entire look and visual persona…uhh, can anyone say missing the point?!?
Sharon Osbourne is also an unapologetic transphobe. And she’s kind of a phoney –I’m sure she thinks she’s on the cutting edge, but she’s clearly desperate to be seen as some-one everybody can like. She’s a rather loathsome person.

I didn’t know she was transphobic. Aargh, that’s annoying and stupid…and so is she.

There’s no record of her ever apologising. Kelly did, though:

On Tuesday. night as I was watching AGT, I was astounded at the Judges attitudes and remarks…They were all very rude and Sharon was the worst. The remarks were cruel and demeaning. Andrew De Leon handled the remarks with grace and diginity. On Wed. when they featured Steve Harvey spewing out his vavorites, I was shocked. I felt it inapproiate and it made me wonder about AGT. I have watched AGT from the beginning and have never seen anything like this. The judges (ie) Sharon does not behave with any professional diginity. To come out and make the cutting remarks she made to him are terrible..I will be rethinking AGT, for next year. I do hope Sharon leaves. Maybe she should go and take Ozzies makeup off…
