Death of Antinous

Weep, O you rivers of the earth, for the death of Antinous.

Place your feet in a mourning dance, O Bes, and veil your eyes, O Hathor, in sadness.

The beloved boy has been lost in the Nile: inundate the land in your lamentation, O Hapi.

The skies over western Washington weep for the death of the Bithynian boy.

The Atlantic Ocean rages in fury and weeping for the child of Mantinoë.

The night is black and morose; but even this darkness is sacred.

Rend your garments of cloud, O Nut, and open your eye of sadness, O Thoth.

Weep, O you skies over the earth, for the death of Antinous.
