Besia 2014

"Bes," prayer card by Ptahmassu Nofra-U'aa

“Bes,” prayer card by Ptahmassu Nofra-U’aa

Prayer to Bes

Bes, great god though small,
gifted in dancing and joy,
in protection and in oracles:

Come forth bearing knife and sword,
shield and spear and breastplate
for our defense and our guarding;

Come forth with feathers adorning your head
of ostrich and peacock and pheasant
for our celebrations and laughter;

Come forth with feet stamping and hands clapping
and bells and sistra, drums and cymbals,
for our dancing and our ecstasy;

Come forth with your sense and wisdom
from the Nile and from far-off lands beyond
for our guidance and answers to questions.

Bes, great god though small,
look upon us with favor and blessings
for our ease and peace, in work and at rest.

Dua Bes!
